Translation

The translation is the first stage of a translation project. It comprises a source-to-target translation done by native-speaking translators with in-depth experience of the relevant industry.
For the best quality and productivity, our highly skilled translators systematically use Computer Assisted Tools to perform your translation and pay particular attention to:
  • Consistency regarding the style, the customer’s instructions, glossary, style guide, and other reference material
  • Purpose of the translation: cultural transfer and adaptation to the target group

Editing

Editing consists of a bilingual review of the translated document. It is a quality assurance stage in which the editor carefully compares the source text and target text, refines the translation and checks the following points*:
  • Consistency
  • Accuracy regarding the industry terminology
  • Compliance with the customer’s terminology
  • Omissions
  • Grammar, spelling, punctuation
  • Formatting – tags
  • Style: compliance with the customer and/or industry style guide or our internal style guide
  • Adherence to references

Proofreading

Proofreading is the final stage of the writing process. Unlike editing, proofreading is a monolingual review of the translated document (the source document is only referred to if needed, to clarify queries) that simulates the experience of the end user. It is performed by a second or third linguist with knowledge of the relevant industry and involves checking for spelling, grammar and other types of errors* and ensuring that the final translation:
  • Is consistent regarding the industry terminology, style and writing conventions
  • Meets all the customer’s requirements and the purpose of the translation
  • No longer reads like translation

Desktop publishing

DTP consists of incorporating the translated content into the original layout and making the necessary adjustments according to the target language typesetting rules, ensuring sure the final translation layout is 100% faithful to the original. Our in-house DTP specialists perform the DTP, and a native linguist with DTP skills systematically reviews the formatted translation to ensure that the translated document is error-free and ready to be published.
Quality
* For best results, we always use special QA tools such as SDLX Regular Expressions, Trados and SDLX QA checkers, QA Distiller or Xbench as well as internal editing and proofreading checklists to perform systematic and customized checks during the editing and proofreading stages.
